Sustainability and Customer Needs The Balance of Solutions & Benefits
Even though sustainability is on the agenda
for many companies and of growing importance for the general public,
Océ research has shown that is it still not among the top five buying
criteria for most of Océ's customers and prospects. This will certainly
change over time, especially as sustainability becomes more intertwined
with the key purchase decision points: Reliability, productivity,
quality, cost, safe investment and ease of use. As it turns out,
sustainability and customer needs go hand in hand. Research
also showed that with respect to the environment, customers care most
about avoiding wasted prints, reducing energy consumption, reusing
materials, and minimizing emissions in the working environment--all
issues closely tied to sustainability. So while customers may not cite
sustainability as a top five they clearly care about these issues. The
following table shows how Océ addresses each of the key purchase
criteria and environmental concerns and ties them to measurable
sustainability benefits.
These practices, combined with other Océ approaches to sustainability,
demonstrate Océ's strategy for addressing customers' day-to-day
printing and copying, needs while also providing sustainable benefits
that match customers' environmental concerns. For the complete story on
Océ's sustainability initiatives, download the Océ 2007 Sustainability
Report.
